Commitment

Desire is at most the key to motivation , but the determination and commitment that you put forth against any obstacle or performance or pursuit of your goal can be portrayed as a commitment to excellence. Furthermore this will allow you to enable you to attain the success you seek. To explain more commitment is a big part of me and who I am and what i believe. The question is how committed are you to winning or succeeding ? Are you committed to being a good friend ? Trustworthy ? How about honest or dependent on ? Successful ? How about being a good father, teammate , or even just a good citizen ? The biggest question you should ask yourself is how committed are you to being a role model ? Every morning you should ask yourself in the mirror before you leave home , how committed are you ?

Desire is the key to motivation, but it's the determination and commitment to unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.

Desire

It has to be something you’re passionate about, something you’re super excited about, something you want deeply. Make sure that your goal meets these criteria, or you won’t stick with it for long.Every little step along the way is a success — celebrate the fact that you even started! And then did it for two days! Celebrate every little milestone. Then take that successful feeling and build on it, with another baby step. Add 2-3 minutes to your exercise routine, for example. Make friends with people who will encourage you on the path to your goals, and find ways to spend more time with them. Share your goals only with people who will support you, not those who will respond with cynicism or indifference. If you want to lose weight, for instance, get yourself into a gym, and start befriending those who are already in great shape. You'll find that their attitudes become infectious, and you'll start believing that you can do it too. Meeting people who've lost one hundred pounds or more can be extremely motivating. If you want to start a new business, join the local chamber of commerce or a trade association. Do whatever it takes to make new friends who will help you keep your commitment.

Build Anticipation

If you find inspiration and want to do a goal, don’t start right away. Many of us will get excited and want to start today. That’s a mistake. Set a date in the future — a week or two, or even a month — and make that your Start Date. Mark it on the calendar. Get excited about that date. Make it the most important date in your life. In the meantime, start writing out a plan. And do some of the steps below. Because by delaying your start, you are building anticipation, and increasing your focus and energy for your goal. By the time the date actually comes you'll be energized and fully ready to explode with enthusiasm. You want to have big reminders about your goal, to keep your focus and keep your excitement going. The second half of motivation is to keep yourself going when you don’t feel the same excitement as you did in the beginning. Perhaps something new has come into your life and your old goal isn’t as much of a priority anymore. Perhaps you skipped a day or two and now you can’t get back into it. Perhaps you screwed up and got discouraged.

The Extra Push

Everybody knows that in life you're going to have to push yourself to get to where you need to be. Most people however usually just do enough to just get by instead of going the extra mile putting yourself out in front of others . Many people often would choose the easier route to go just for the simple fact the pressure is less tense and there isn't too much thinking for one's self being. Don’t start out big! Start out with a ridiculously easy goal, and then grow from there. If you want to exercise, for example, you may be thinking that you have to do these intense workouts 5 days a week. No — instead, do small, tiny, baby steps. Just do 2 minutes of exercise. I know, that sounds wimpy. But it works. Commit to 2 minutes of exercise for one week. You may want to do more, but just stick to 2 minutes. It’s so easy, you can’t fail. Do it at the same time, every day. Just some crunches, 2 pushups, and some jogging in place. Once you’ve done 2 minutes a day for a week, increase it to 5, and stick with that for a week. In a month, you’ll be doing 15-20. Want to wake up early? Don’t think about waking at 5 a.m. Instead, think about waking 10 minutes earlier for a week. That’s all. Once you’ve done that, wake 10 minutes earlier than that. Baby steps.

Motivation

Motivation is literally the desire to do things. It's the difference between waking up before dawn to pound the pavement and lazing around the house all day. It's an important step into setting and achieving goals. That extra push , strength , or stride all revolves around motivation . There are many different types of ways to be motivated or get motivated. It can be your girlfriend that motivates you , your grandma , perhaps a friend doesn't have to be a relative just something or someone to encourage you to do better.
Different types of motivation are frequently described as being either extrinsic or intrinsic. Extrinsic motivations are those that arise from outside of the individual and often involve rewards such as trophies, money, social recognition or praise. Intrinsic motivations are those that arise from within the individual, such as doing a complicated cross-word puzzle purely for the personal gratification of solving a problem.

Determination

Study hard in school and then spend the rest of your life dedicated to becoming better and better at whatever you do. Being good at what you do is the surest way to succeed and create circumstances in which you can better your life. Take extra classes and training once you’ve settled into a career to refresh your skills and learn the latest techniques and practices. Practice job skills outside of work and use the internet to find helpful techniques and tricks. Talk to the masters to get helpful advice and learn from their experience.

The extra drive or strides you take into consideration when trying to reach your goal gives you a better feeling about yourself when you feel determined .

Procrasination & Excuses

It really doesn’t matter if the problems in your life were caused by someone else. It really doesn’t matter if obstacles in your life make it difficult or almost impossible for you to succeed. You are the only person you can depend on to fix your problems. If you want things to be better, you have to make them better.

Don’t keep telling yourself that you’ll apply for that job next week. Putting things off is a way to make sure things don’t get done or get done poorly. Attack the obstacles and tasks early, to give yourself more time to do them properly and excel at what you do.
